Peter T. King (born April 5, 1944) is the U.S. Representative for New York's 3rd congressional district, serving since 1993. He is a member of the Republican Party. King serves as the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and also sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. As Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee King drew attention for holding radicalization hearings against Muslim Americans in early 2011 to discuss how the radicalization of young men and women in the United States posed what he considers a grave threat to the national security of the country.
King's district includes parts of Nassau County and Suffolk County, all in the central part of Long Island.
